FIRST TIME ON AUDIO...

An Unabridged Novella Unavailable In Any Collection!

Tapping into our primal fears of modern technology that made Cell a #1 bestseller, Stephen King sets his sights on the latest high-tech gadget in UR, in which a mysterious e-book reader opens a disturbing window into other worlds.

Reeling from a painful break-up, English instructor and avid book lover Wesley Smith is haunted by his ex-girlfriend's parting shot: "Why can't you just read off the computer like everyone else?" He buys an e-book reader out of spite, but soon finds he can use the device to glimpse realities he had never before imagined, discovering literary riches beyond his wildest dreams...and all-too-human tragedies that surpass his most terrible nightmares.

From vintage cars (Christine and From a Buick 8) to household appliances (Maximum Overdrive) to exercise equipment (Stationary Bike), Stephen King has mesmerized us with tales of apparently ordinary machines that take on lives of their own. UR gives this classic theme an up-to-the-minute spin, resulting in a horror masterpiece for our time and for the ages.

Amazon.com Review

Since his first novel was published in 1974, Stephen King has stretched the boundaries of the storyteller as a writer who constantly redefines his readers' experience by working in various genres and formats . Whether in an epic horror novel, like THE STAND, a serial-novel like THE GREEN MILE, or a novella like SHAWSHANK REDEMPTION, King is able to deliver a reading experience like no one else can. As quickly as a spider spins its web, King reminds us why he's the master of the novella - a format which, up until now that is, one might have thought is fast disappearing.

Mandy Said: A nice, hurried read Sep. 8th 2010

I love author King, and I had just purchased my prototypal Kindle, so this was really a no-brainer - I had to have this book!

Wesley purchases an Amazon Kindle in hopes of impressing his ex-girlfriend. He presently discovers that his Kindle is pink, and has the knowledge to download brand newborn stories by famous person authors. He also discovers that he can download forthcoming newspapers from different Urs, which enables him to see into the future.

It's sure not among King's best entireness it's a novella, after all , but it's a really beatific short read, especially if you own a Kindle!

Robin Landry Said: spooky Aug. 20th 2010

Did Amazon pay Stephen King to write UR or did it essay to pay him not to write it? That's the question, and module Kindle be coming out in any another colors? I'm trusty the sales would go through the roof if a Kindle came out in 'Breast Cancer Pink'.

A wonderful feature from King as usual. His characters are so actual and so easily frightened. I'm not trusty how some grouping wouldn't have gone straight to the have reports, or the success Lotto drawing instead of attractive such a literate road such as Wesley adventurer did in the King's newborn novel UR. Sure, retyping forfeited author novels and expiration them soured as your own might create a blameable conscious, but I doubt sporting on the ponies would. But then again, where would the suspense of a Stephen King new become in?

I thoroughly enjoyed the newborn 'Kindle-inspired' novelette by author King. I loved the characters and the story distinction rattling had me wondering what would hap next. The ending was priceless. UR proves that King really could be engrossing modify if he were just composition a phone book.

I loved UR. I didn't really undergo what to expect but I never do with some SK book I read. I'm damn pleased I have a kindle now though & I'm equally glad it's not pink. I love that it's linked into The Stygian tower series too, it makes it more special

Heather Bella Said: Good not great? Aug. 11th 2010

As a Contant Reader of Stephen King I was a lowercase disappointed in UR. It's a good novel and kept my welfare but mitt me wanting more. I think the "product placement" of the Kindle was a little jarring and interrupted the line of the story.
I'm bright that I purchased UR but it's not my selection King work.
